Work Begins on the New School Academy
| This was our school fieldWe have returned from the six weeks holidays and there is a fence being built round the school field. From outside of the window you can see a new wooden fence being built and painted and you can still see the lovely view from far and near.

The fencing has started to go up this weeks around the new academy They seem to be making a road on to the field for all the trucks and building materials to come through. Trucks deliver porta cabins for the workmen to have a break and use the loo. Earth has started to be moved from one side of the field to the other to make rooms for the new pitch. More trucks an diggers arrive on the site to give the site more man power.

| This is the access road for the trucks to get on the working site. There is a box for the main builder to watch over the other builders.
The farmer has given permission for the workmen to use some of his land to make a little exist to high school coming off the M6. | Workmen have started to put containers and power boxes down on the old courts where lessons used to be taking place, e.g. PE with Mr. Crusham. The reason for this is so the men can patrol the site at night and have tea breaks during the days work.`

"The new school, Hope Academy is open in 2011, which is a mixture between St. Aelred's and Newton High. I have been looking at your fantastic work every day, we have drawn some of your trucks and even took pictures.
I think it will be extraordinarily fantastic and huge for all of us. It is a brilliant new scene every day. When it's raining the workmen still carry on and even work at night."

When I came back from my 6 weeks holiday there was a multi-colour fence and some builders putting in their effort in building the new Hope academy. Hard is being done for this school.

This is a scientific picture. This picture shows the diggers working their hardest to dig up the earth to make it a better place to be for all.
Of this we are gratefulto the govenor and all of the hard-working workmen and their mean machines.

What they are doing?

| | They are building the new school in 2 years. People like watching the diggers inside the CAN windows, and it is very funny because they have made a big hole in the ground and people want the new school to be built early. | People may not like what they are doing to the new school... |
| The truck is driving the mountain of mud. We can see someone's washing on the other side of the school. I wonder what the people in the houses must think.
| A CAT 725b Articulated dumper truck on top of the southern mound of dirt,dumping its load of fine soil that will eventually be used for the foundations. 'Fiddlers Ferry' Power station (located about 4.25 miles away) is part of the St. Helens skyline.

| IN THIS PICTURE YOU CAN STILL SEE THE OLD COBBLES. The machine has a big roller on it and it is flattening all the ground. The other trucks keep going back and to. Towards the muck mountain. We have a good view of the houses and the skyline in the background.
| THE TRUCKS ARE NOW ASLEEP The trucks go to sleep at night and fall to sleep and when I saw the truck at night I was laughing.

| They are building a new school. This tractor is a Murraywood - Construction. What it is doing is getting all the mud in on a pile of soil. It is a really big hill. To do it will be done in 2011. |

| On this picture, there is a roller flattening down the road. A digger digging a hole, and a bulldozer pushing the mud. It looks like there are plastic sheets under the gravel.

THE BOSS STORYOne day at Digger Valley, there was a new boss. "Who is the boss today?" "Me Pat. Why didn't you know? What about it?" "It's a bad day boss" "Build at the Newton-le-Willows High School to make a new school called the Hope Academy so we can knock down the old school."

| This is about our new academy called Hope Academy. Builders are working hard hard to build our new academy. This is a picture to show you what very hard work they're doing. It will be done soon.

from the sail and rain water mixing together; but work
still goes on by the brave hard-working builders. | |
| Today from our window, I can see diggers and 2 or 3 lots of floodlights. I can see trucks moving the mud to make a path. Terex is taking the mud up a hill and coming back down and going to get more mud. Williams is picking up the mud and putting it in the trucks so it can take it to the mud pile. There is a van driving on the path. There is a blue van that has stopped and now it is moving down the bottom. There is a man taking pictures of the school. |

| I can see trucks digging. There is cement holes and the sky is cloudy, and lots of trucks and mud and soggy mud. The holes are filling with mud...

Today I looked out the window onto the work site I saw: framework, lots of new machines, a huge big flat back truck bringing in metal framework, lots of floodlights, lots of roadways which looks like a little village, lots of workmen and lots of packages.
| | Today (the 7th of December) there is a lot of work going on. On the building site, the builders have started to build the school,
they're going metal frame work. | A large forklift with an extendible arm. They carry boxes that a normal forklift couldn't carry.
These boxes contain joints and bolts to hold the frame of the building together. The arm can extend up to about the size of a 3 storey building to get boxes and other things up to the top of the building. |

What we have been waiting for... The main structure is being built! Many girders have been used to contruct this first part of the building, and many more girders will be used. Two mobile cranes have been dispatched to raise the pieces, and a 'cherry picker' is used to get people up to the top and fix them in place. The previous was had freezing fog, but it didn't stop the work progressing. The girders were transported on a flatbed lorry most likely overnight, or in the morning.

| When we came back from Christmas holiday it was still snowing and all the mud hills were covered in snow. If you look at it you will see that it looks like Mount Snowdon, and all the workers are still at their hard and very stressful work - they must be cold! | |
